Only the toys were invited.

Super Bowl Shit

National holiday today. Bout to consume buttloads of hamburgers, hot dogs and steaks. Then I hope to dump buttloads of feces in the toilet.

Hopefully it goes a lot smoother than this.

King Smurf

We spent Saturday in LA: ate at The Counter "Build Your Own Burger" restaurant on Sunset and Fairfax, shopped at Meltdown toy store on Sunset, grabbed some drinks at Riordan's Tavern on Figueroa, and finally the Staples Center to witness the Clippers beat up on the Raptors.

Here's some pics of our pickups

Ashley Wood's World War Robot "Dropcloth" hand designed by ThreeA toys

10" King Smurf coin bank imported from Belgium

And we're not typically "Marvel" fans, or any comic books for that matter, but I love the bulkiness, detail and size of these two figures:

Dr. Doom, Hulk & Toy Story Legos

We were in Las Vegas this weekend for March Madness and made a point to stop by one of our favorite show's shop, Pawn Stars. Chumlee wasn't there but his face sure was plastered all over merchandise. After the Pawn Stars visit we drove over to Toy Shack; which is owned by Johnny Jimenez. On the show, Johnny is often called in as "Rick's buddy" to appraise toys and drop some knowledge.

We picked up a Dr. Doom 12", an Incredible Hulk 12" and Toy Story Legos.

Figure Collection

It's no secret, we have a pretty good sized collection of toys/figures. (vinyl, plastic, resin, ceramic etc.) Many of which have been pictured on here in the past. We recently purchased a few additions to the gang that should arrive in the next few days (pictures to come). Until then, here's a two quick shots of some of our goodies.

Walgreens Adventure II

Couldn't pass up the chance to share this pronographic toy with you as well. Turns out you blow this one up though the penis shafted mouth piece, which not coincidentally is flesh colored. Oh, and this guy has a vagina back as well.

Walgreens Adventure

Late night Walgreens run yesterday with your bloggers, only to find the most pornographic children's toys for sale. Check out this pink vagina back, uhhh, thing.

Bigfoot Sighting

Hurley's new Orange County based art gallery, Hurley Space, showcased the work of notorious graffiti and street artist Bigfoot tonight. The event was fully loaded with tons of his artwork, a KISS cover band, THREE food trucks serving it up all night and the artist himself simply mingling with the crowd. All in all, a pretty good night.

Are You Serious?

Why is it that every year when I'm supposed to be buying my :ahem: "loved ones" christmas presents, I'm bombarded with an onslaught of goodness for myself?

Take these absolute bonkers Patta x Nike Sportswear Tier Zero release Air Max 1's for example:
1. Woven canvas upper
2. Ballistic nylon under
3. Coated metal eyelets
4. Gum Sole
5. All black upper with white midsole and swoosh

Or this Bounty Hunter Cataru Kun vinyl collectible figure that i stole on Ebay for only $46!

Fraggle Rock!

Ok so designer Dr. Romanelli recently collaborated with whoever the hell owns the rights to Fraggle Rock nowadays (keep in mind that just about everything that was cool from the '80's has changed ownership rights about 10 times each.)  Never heard of Dr. Romanelli?  Don't bother looking him up, most of the stuff he makes is complete garbage and looks like my dog ate a rainbow then threw up on it.

However, the title of this post is "Fraggle Rock" and that's because it really doesn't matter who made it, that's not important right now.  What IS important is that I can now purchase some vinyl collectibles commemorating the 25th anniversary of one of the coolest saturday morning cartoons from my childhood.

Oh and just to further explain Dr. Romanelli's complete lack of any creativity, the official release of the figures is going to be held at the swanky Kitson's in Hollywood (aka Paris Hilton's personal shopping mecca). FAIL.

Shelves, How I Love Thee

Being a collector is one of the most difficult hobbies to get into. Depending on the subject that's being collected, it can often lead to empyting of one's piggybank. Not to mention, space can be sparse which can make for a rather unorganized collection. Proper shelving units can usually fix this problem, but usually requires you to spend a pretty penny.

Friends, faith is not to be lost. Thanks to IKEA, we were able to find a couple of shelves suitable for some of Jesse's collection. It's affordable, semi-sturdy, and simple--like how all furnitures should be. Of course, we weren't able to fit everything, but we put away a good amount of DVDs, books, and some vinyl toys. Being a collector myself, I know that sense of reward that overcomes you when you see the result of your labors (in this case putting up the shelves and seeing the most awesome DVD collection known to earth). You can't help but look at it every night before you sleep.
