Keeping the Green and Gold Alive

These dudes are legit.  One of them, Colin Baxter, was the executive producer of Sonicsgate; a documentary detailing the absolute shady dealings that went on between David Stern and Clay Bennett to uproot the Sonics from Seattle and ship them to Oklahoma City.  Stern's panties were leftover wet from OKC's foster home care they gave to the New Orleans Hornets immediately following Hurricane Katrina's ass-kicking.

Well, Colin Baxter and his buddies weren't too thrilled about losing their team after 41 years of loyalty from the Pacific Northwest city.  So they did what any other die-hard fans would do: spend $4000 a seat, plus airfare and hotel, to be present directly behind the Oklahoma City Thunder's bench during game 4 of the NBA finals.

Die-hard indeed, literally.  The walking dead Seattle fans are sending a message, artfully tactical at that.

RIP Jim Marshall

The man who made things louder. Pretty unfortunate that his passing came shortly after the Marshall fridge. He won't be able to witness the first band to perform and take a drink out of it on stage.

Casey Anthony on Craigslist

Well, I guess it doesn't serve its original purpose anymore....Oh, no, not the crutches; I was referring to our country's judicial system.

R.I.P. Heavy D

I'm going to miss you popping up randomly on Law & Order. Little known fact: Heavy D made the theme for In Living Color. And, look for him in Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy's new movie, Tower Heist.

End of An Era

The computer age isn't over, but the man that pushed its boundaries and modernized it beyond its years has past on.

Without you, Steve Jobs, I wouldn't have 15,000 songs at my disposal for a 3 minute drive to the grocery store.

Artist Highlight: ROA

Belgium has given the world some pretty damn amazing things; waffles comes to mind instantly, as well as beer (Shock Top, Stella Artois and Fat Tire to name a few). But Belgium is also responsible for giving the world the wonderful art of ROA. Black and white animal carcasses never looked so beautiful.

Enjoy a few pics of his work:

Kid Cudi - No One Believes Me

It's no secret, Cudi is one of our guilty pleasures (the guy is no joke). This new music video is for a track he did for the Fright Night movie soundtrack. Fright Night is a new vampire movie in which Colin Farrell plays a real vampire, not a sparkling homosexual vampire. Too bad Cudi couldn't hold out for a zombie movie.

Spoiler Alert: cool death at the 5:00 minute mark.

R.I.P. Gil Scott Heron

A genius ahead of his time. A powerful musician with words that weighed a ton. A love for his talent that spanned the course of 40+ years. This world has no idea of the soul it has lost today.

Kids With Uzis

My friend Matt Andrews showed my other friend Joe Navran who in turn showed Ken Do, Tuilagi Soifua and me. Yes, that breaks down to one Black guy, one Persian guy, one Asian guy, one Somoan guy and one half Mexican/half White guy. The true epitome of "going viral". No continent was untouched.

Thursday Update: What Ever Happened To....?

Let's play a game....

Every Thursday I'm going to post a picture of someone (or something) that we haven't heard from in a long time.

Today's winner:
Amy Winehouse.

Blinky Just Wants to be Your Friend

This short film definitely borders on WTF. I can get all artsy fartsy on you and tell you how it represents neglected children reflecting the behaviors of their parental surroundings on unsuspecting less fortunate subjects and ultimately said child's temperamental control issues, but don't worry I wont. Instead, enjoy the movie for yourself.

A little side info, this short stars Max Records (the kid from Where the Wild Things Are) AND coincidentally looks like something Spike Jonze would make too, but it's not.

President's Day, I Hate You

Holidays serve as excuses for retail businesses to have huge blowout sales. This includes otherwise unimportant holidays like President's Day. Fact is, no one shops after Christmas. So President's Day, the first "holiday" to fall after the Christmas shopping season, is strategically used by just about all retail businesses to boost first quarter sales.

I fully expected our store to be dirty and ravaged but I didn't expect to feel violated and abused at the end of the day like I did.. Here are some pictures to showcase just how filthy some people are. The complete lack of respect and absence of any kind of morals by just about 99% of our customers yesterday was astounding.

Going, Going, Almost Gone

America is the country of dying arts, as previously mentioned here. As technology expands, more and more "arts" are being forgotten. Granted, technology has given us new arts as well, it still sucks to lose man's old arts.

Auschwitz: A Film by Uwe Boll

Notoriously known for making extremely less than bearable films, Uwe Boll has now lent his hand at recreating the holocaust.

"The point that a lot of the critics ignore in their hate articles about me is: that I made the movie because there is not one movie made that shows the holocaust for what it really was: a killing factory. All the movies made showed us the SPECIAL people ....the heroes ..... but nobody focused on the subject matter. this is what I do in my movie and i think in times where 50% of the planet say THERE WAS NO HOLOCAUST - i think it's not so bad to show that AUSCHWITZ happened. best - Uwe"

Since we recently visited the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, I am looking forward to seeing Uwe's attempt at capturing the realism of the subject.
