A 600,000 LEGO brick Christmas tree was erected at St. Pancras Station in London. Before you ask, it took two months to build.

The Cult of Lego
Everyone loves Legos. The little colorful blocks adorning teeth indented ridges enveloped hundreds upon thousands of hours of millions of children all across the globe. And now, this all inclusive coffee table book is sure to captivate millions of more minds; quite possibly rekindling a little childhood excitement in all of us.
Set to release in November 2011.

Dr. Doom, Hulk & Toy Story Legos
We were in Las Vegas this weekend for March Madness and made a point to stop by one of our favorite show's shop, Pawn Stars. Chumlee wasn't there but his face sure was plastered all over merchandise. After the Pawn Stars visit we drove over to Toy Shack; which is owned by Johnny Jimenez. On the show, Johnny is often called in as "Rick's buddy" to appraise toys and drop some knowledge.
We picked up a Dr. Doom 12", an Incredible Hulk 12" and Toy Story Legos.

Jennifer Steinkamp's Madame Curie
As mentioned on the previous post, we recently visited Museum of Contemporary Arts SD for Jennifer Steinkamp's "Madame Curie." It was recommended to me by one of the employees while I was visiting their permanent collection across the street. In my opinion, Contemporary lies in extremes--either the piece was done exceptionally well or you're just staring at a pile of trash. The genius and the terrible are often muddled into one room and that's the case for this exhibition along with others in existence. Thoroughly enjoyed Steinkamp's video work, though; my liking was intensified because post rock goodness was playing in mi ear the entire time.

Lego Space
Since one member of this blog, not me, is notoriously horrible when it comes to uploading pictures from our excursions, I figured I'd share at least a few pictures from a recent Museum trip we took in San Diego.
Here's a few shots of a really cool melted down Lego landscape with a moon landing theme to it. On display currently at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in downtown SD.

Lego: The Brick Thief
You all know my take on Legos and their importance in what has been dubbed one of the smartest generations of children in history. You may remember this video i posted awhile back. Here is another short Lego film follow up, enjoy:

Japanese style tattoos
Are all the rage. There are some artists who specialize in this particular style that have a year-long waitlist. Go figure. These kinds of tattoos typically cover arms, shoulders, and most importantly back. It doesn't come as a surprise that someone would modify the style to their liking. Here's to childhood toys: Legos.

Lego Art by Nathan Sawaya
Nathan Sawaya has some extraordinary Lego building skills. I particularly like the simple use of pantone colors for the entire work.

Legos: The Reason Our Generation is Smarter
Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Wii, World of Warcraft, 986 TV Channels, School Uniforms, Guitar Hero, Lunchables, Bike Helmets, Child Predators, Private Schooling, "A.D.D." and the list goes on and on and on and....
All these factors contribute to the youth of today. I know, as each generation moves forward the next generation in line just seems dumber and dumber; but we've officially hit rock bottom. Kids don't play outside anymore. They don't experience the real world, they don't build social relationships. Children nowadays grow up playing as many video games as they can. The majority of their peer interaction comes from Xbox Live chat rooms and World of Warcraft forums. There's more "nerds" in the world today than ever before. Child Depression and A.D.D. diagnoses are handed out like suckers at the doctor's office.
Why, you ask? Because we're raising wimps and sheltering them from the joys of childhood: scrapped knees, bloody noses, mud pies, grass stained pants, Koolaid mustaches, wheelies and most importantly IMAGINATION. The only imagination kids use today is creating the dress their "medieval warrior" is going to wear when they "pwn" their rival gamer clan.
Legos folks, Legos.
Breeding imagination since 1932.
