Apparently the Football Gods are not English. Which is completely mind boggling, seeing as how the English invented the damn sport. England absolutely annihilated their group during qualifying and were one of the first European countries to advance to the World Cup. But it's been nothing but downhill since then. Injuries to national side regulars Ashley Cole and Michael Owen were devastating enough (not so much Wayne Bridge's premature retirement because he sucks anyways) but now the main cog on this clock has gone down. Today, David Beckham tore his achilles tendon and will miss this summer's World Cup. Furthermore, Becks isn't very young and will probably be forced to hang up his boots forever.
So long Becks, you will definitely be missed this summer.
