Toys R Us (when they weren't teetering on bankruptcy) used to run commercials with the jingle "I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us kid." Now Japan is following suit. The two most notorious brands that have been satisfying the Japanese inner child for many years have finally teamed up. 30 year old Japanese chicks have been wearing cat head shirts and masturbating with Hello Kitty dildos since I was getting my 8 bit Nintendo gaming on. And likewise, 30 year old Japanese guys have been wearing colorful pajama-esque Bape hoodies since Hip-Hop wasn't gangster.
Now, the two are finally in business together. A Bathing Ape's owner, Nigo, has signed on as a creative partner with Sanrio (the parent company to Hello Kitty). Future projects will feature Nigo's character, and clothing line, Baby Milo.
Get your fruit on Japan. Don't grow up, don't ever grow up.
