Lebron James: The Ultimate Athlete/Human

Reports have surfaced that Lebron James will be changing his jersey number next season from 23 to 6 in honor of Michael Jordan. He is petitioning for a leaguewide retirement of the often proclaimed greatest player of all time's number 23. Hockey did it with Wayne Gretzky's number 99 and baseball did it with Jackie Robinson's number 42, looks like it's time for basketball to ante up.

The choice of the number 6 stems from his current tenure with the US National Team. He has said his experience as an olympian last summer was the greatest of his life.

The league hasn't been entirely keen on the idea. In an attempt to wash their hands of it, a representative of the league office stated that this type of thing is not conducted by the league itself, but rather the individual teams as a whole. Another analyst is on the record as saying Magic Johnson and Larry Bird “had a greater impact on the game than Michael Jordan.” This statement, however, was quickly tossed in a dumpster full of cat feces since it was uttered by the absolutely moronic and attention grabbing, cheeseburger lover Charles Barkley himself.

We're talking about THIS guy

Do the right thing NBA. Besides, look at the current list of NBA players that are sporting the 23.

Marcus Camby (Clippers) : I love the guy, but he is a CENTER after all.
Kevin Martin (Sacramento) : Good player but definitely not worthy of MJ.
Jason Richardson (Phoenix) : On his way to retirement anyways.
Lou Williams (Philadelphia) : Solid player, but only in the league 5 years.
Stephen Graham (Charlotte) : 7 yrs, 6 teams, only 4.3 career PPG average.
C.J. Watson (Golden State) : 3 yrs, only 12 minutes a game average.
Jodie Meeks (Milwaukee) : Rookie, second round pick, enough said.
Devin Brown (New Orleans) : 9 years, 6 teams, nothing to show for it
Martell Webster (Portland) : 5 years in the league, all on the bench.
Wesley Matthews (Utah) : Rookie, went undrafted, even more enough said.

So, as you can see, the current line-up of 23 clad players looks like a rag tag team of nobodies, sort of like the New York Knicks.

  1. Or maayyybbeeee he just doesn't want to be associated with all those losers by having the same number. I'd change my number too if that was the case.
