Half a Head

First question that comes to mind is whether or not this is real, but that's not what I'm here for so onto the next question.

Providing that this pic is absolutely authentic, how the heck did this guy manage to survive with much of his brain (by the looks of it) gone? Definitely something to marvel about, but it probably has a lot to do with why he's even posing for a mugshot.

Sources say he was arrested for attempting to purchase vaginal sex from an undercover agent for $80. I'd arrest him myself for such an offensive/meager proposal. Anyway, if you have any more info on this dude, feel free to link, would like to know more about him.
