So back when i was in high school, Saturday Night Live was starting to suck, Mad TV (which always sucked) wasn't around yet and just about the only funny show on TV was Kids in the Hall. But they were from Canadia, so liking them made you a little fruity. Then came along The State. It aired on MTV, but before you discredit it: Remember, this was the MTV with Pauly Shore, Bill Bellamy and Kurt Loder. NOT the MTV we're used to nowadays.
The State was a sketch comedy show for the cooler crowd. The jokes were stupider, the cast was crazier and the skits were completely random. The 11 cast members wrote all the skits themselves.
The cast included:
Michael Ian Black: Been in tons of things, recently Sierra Mist commercials.
Michael Showalter: "The Michael Showalter Show..alter"
Thomas Lennon: Now Lieutenant Jim Dangle on Reno 911
Joe Lo Truglio: Now Frank Rizzo on Reno 911
Kerri Kenney: Now Trudy Wiegel on Reno 911
Robert Ben Garant: Now Travis Junior on Reno 911
Here's a few clips of The State:
Oh and great news, the full DVD box set releases in FOUR days!
