I was turned onto this Canadian post-rock band, Godspeed You! Black Emperor by a close friend.
I had heard the name before and sorta knew what kind of music they made. But other than that, I wasn't familiar with them at all. I searched them first on wikipedia, because i like to get a background story on bands and new music before i actually hear any of their stuff. They seemed extremely interesting. Searched them on youtube, and clicked the first video that looked decent. Little did i know, what i was about to encounter, would make my jaw drop.
The following video was my first impression of the band and it's absolutely captivating. It's very rare that a first impression of music makes such an impact on me, so i just had to post this video.
Most of you wont sit through the entire 10 minute video, but if you have the time and an open mind i suggest you check it out.
