Keeping the Green and Gold Alive

These dudes are legit.  One of them, Colin Baxter, was the executive producer of Sonicsgate; a documentary detailing the absolute shady dealings that went on between David Stern and Clay Bennett to uproot the Sonics from Seattle and ship them to Oklahoma City.  Stern's panties were leftover wet from OKC's foster home care they gave to the New Orleans Hornets immediately following Hurricane Katrina's ass-kicking.

Well, Colin Baxter and his buddies weren't too thrilled about losing their team after 41 years of loyalty from the Pacific Northwest city.  So they did what any other die-hard fans would do: spend $4000 a seat, plus airfare and hotel, to be present directly behind the Oklahoma City Thunder's bench during game 4 of the NBA finals.

Die-hard indeed, literally.  The walking dead Seattle fans are sending a message, artfully tactical at that.

Happy MLK Day, Black Kid Wins

Here's a french video clip of a bunch of kids trying to figure out what 1970's and 1980's technology was. Then the shit hits the fan and a little black kids figures out how to scratch a record in about 20 seconds (2:30 mark), further supporting all stereotypes of urban black youth. No that wasn't a racist comment, it was the truth, there's a huge difference.

Hangin' From a Telephone Wire

Why do people hang sneakers on a telephone wire?

I always thought it originated in the ghettos:
White sneakers meant crack was sold on that block.
Black sneakers meant heroin was sold on that block.

I'm probably completely wrong, but this upcoming documentary will put all of our theories to rest, I hope.

Oh Hippies, You're So Silly

Just about EVERY documentary is one sided and biased. This quick bit is no exception. Apparently there's a group of hippie bums in Tokyo that are inhabiting a park that Nike purchased to make a skatepark. Before you all boohoo and cry, remember who would frequent these skateparks: the children. So what's better for the city of Tokyo: A.) free rent for these "artist" bums or B.) a place for Tokyo youth to go and be active and build important characteristic traits for the future like the ability to interact socially instead of behind a computer. And remember, Nike paid for the park so the city of Tokyo gets that HUGE chunk of money to try and correct the economic problems that left the hippies homeless to begin with.

Besides, these are REAL homeless people. Look at their clothes, where did they get their art supplies, those tints etc? These people choose to live at this park in particular, they weren't forced, any other park should suffice as well.

How to Earn Your PhD in Less Than Two Hours

So watching documentaries is like the vip pass to sounding like a know-it-all prick. Watch one and you can be that individual with a dogmatic persona and everyone would admire you for it. You gotta have the whole look though, but I know it can be pretty pricey having the DVD collection to go along with it. Do not fret my friends, there's freedocumentaries.org for your free viewing pleasure. You can just tell em it's not very chic to have those bulky DVD cases floating around your house, and that everyone should be as savvy as you are when it comes to the interwebs. You can remind them to be cautious cause you can't believe everything you hear/see with these documentaries--you'll be all the more believable.

This is a trailer for a documentary on the original UK Anarcho punk band Crass. One of, if not the, first band to challenge authority and express political distaste through their music. You can thank Crass for pioneering the way for much of the music you enjoy today. No, I don't mean that money driven bullshit you hear on the radio ala The Black Eyed Peas and that hideous screamer Fergie, I mean real music that gets REAL awards.

Casper, the Dopest Ghost...

If you know me, you know i like Harmony Korine's work. (He wrote the screenplay for Kids and wrote/directed Gummo, Julien Donkey Boy and Mister Lonely) Harmony not only has a knack for filmmaking but is a connoisseur of music as well. He chooses very obscure tracks to compliment his films and never fails to impress. While watching Kids for the first time i recall hearing a quite distinctive rendition of Casper the Friendly Ghost while Casper and the gang completely obliterated a guy in the park. The scene was so graphic and gritty. Yet, the accompanying music was so peaceful and happy.

That rendition was performed by the great Daniel Johnston. In his prime, Johnston's music was nothing short of amazing. He now suffers from bipolar disorder and his bout with the disease has halted the creation of his music. However, he still loves to get that guitar out and make the most of it, shakey hands and all.



A Documentary was made chronicling Johnston's career and his battle with his imbalance. It's called The Devil and Daniel Johnston, and of course you know what has two thumbs and that DVD right? THIS GUY!
