Hip Hop & Cartoons

Two of my favorite pastimes come together for this hilarious nostalgic tale from the Genius.

Monday Music Mayhem: DOOMSTARKS

Searching for last post's link and came across a new Ghostface and DOOM track.

These two have graced tracks together a lot in their history. My personal favorite was when this duo semi-collaborated back in 2005 over Dilla's "Donuts", when they recorded Sniper Elite and Murder Goons.

Here they rock the mic together again on DOOMSTARKS - Victory Laps

Read of the Year

A little late (a month of so) but I just wanted to share with you the absolute read of the year. Here is Ghostface Killah's 3rd attempt at a10 Softest Rappers List. Keep in mind that the first editon Aubrey "Drake" Graham taking the one, two and three spots on the list. Aubrey didn't feature much better in the second edition either, taking the top spot.

Ghostface has been one of the realest artists in the game, way back, since most of these listees were still in diapers. So don't even begin to justify this as "hating" and hide behind that shielded word so often used on the interwebs. He's not hating, he's critiquing; and when you earn your stripes, you're allowed to do so.

Finders credit: two of the realest dudes I know: Danny Levin and Branden Lawson.

Fugazi + Wu Tang = Less Than Three

So Jesse, being the interweb king that he is showed me this not too long ago. Fugazi is definitely one of my favorite bands, and Wu Tang his--a match made in heaven...sigh :)
Anyway, puke-inducing cuteness aside, I'm a fan of this mashup. VERY CLEAN work by Cecil Otter and Swiss Andy. Thanks for all the hard work to produce this ear candy.

Time Traveling Hip Hop Through Beat Box

Looking like a thicker, shaved head version of Jimmy Fallon, French hip hop artist EKLIPS beat boxes some Hip Hop history. Keep an ear peeled at the 1:25 mark; a spot on version of Method Man pops in.

Wu Tang Reunion

Not so much a reunion with parties missing. Tomorrow they start off their tour at 4th & B here in San Diego; as I was reading the list of guest artists, I noticed RZA was missing. So with a few clicks here and there, I came upon an article stating RZAs absence from the entire tour. Apparently he's in China filming The Man With the Iron Fist. One of the main reasons why your contributors wanted to go was to see RZA. We saw GZA a little over a month ago at FLUXX and he put on quite an entertaining show, so imagine everyone together. Anyway, we'll keep you up to date whether or not we end up joining this reunion.

Genius Recognize Genius

Wearing the RZA tee today, a customer reminds me some collaboration work he did with another one of my favorite musical acts, the Black Keys.

Enjoy.

Eagerly Awaiting: "The Wu Massacre"

I just stumbled upon a pretty cool short vid previewing the newest collaborative efforts by the Wu Tang Clan. Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon have joined up to make The Wu Massacre album. The album will feature only the three members but I'm sure production from the RZA and guest appearances from the rest of the gang will be present as well.

Kanye Kanye Kanye....

when will you ever learn? This is what i don't understand about Kanye, he tries to portray this "I'm intelligent" and "i understand politics" image but he's constantly pulling major fuck ups on a national stage. Then, he comes out and apologizes for his actions and makes a new album and everyone loves him again. America keeps getting the Kanye blindfold. Don't get me wrong though, I'm all for acceptance speech interruptions.

But when a genius like Old Dirty Bastard does it, there's no apologies to be made afterwards. ODB doesn't need to apologize for his actions because that's who he is. Kanye on the other hand is a baby that always cries when things don't go his way and when he feels his reputation has been tarnished, he formally apologizes. Grow up or go crazy, those are your only two options Kanye.

Naturally, MTV and Viacom are out to pull all streaming video of last nights fiasco so I wont be posting the original. However, the remixes have already started flowing and this is by far the best one.
